Diorama - Attaching Siding On The Back Of The Diorama Building

Diorama - Attaching Siding On The Back Of The Diorama Building

Diorama - Attaching Siding On The Back Of The Diorama Building

Attaching siding to the back of the diorama building attach the bottom piece of siding first, put some glue on the backside of the piece of siding & place it exactly where you want it remember to use your spacers for the bottom & make sure your siding lines line up with the piece on the side of your diorama building. The corners do not have to be perfect (the siding lines have to match) because we are going to finish them off later & you will never see them just make sure it doesn’t have a big gap in between.

Use clear tape to hold the piece of siding in place & make sure it is tight to the building. Make sure you also put some tape in the middle of the siding so it sticks to the building or you will have a bow that you will see in the wall. Clamps will not work so good to hold this piece because they have nothing to press against on the other end of the building unless you put a piece of scrap wood across the front & have a long enough clamp to reach, that is why tape was a better option at this time. Also with the shorter pieces of siding the tape works in the middle of the siding where as with the longer pieces it doesn’t pull it tight to the building that is why the scrap piece of wood was used along with the clamps for the siding on the side.

Once the bottom piece has dried place the top piece of siding over the bottom make sure that little lip is over that bottom piece. Take a pencil & mark the inside angles for the cuts of the roof angle. Now take that piece & transfer the cut marks to the front of the siding I usually only make the marks on the very edges & use the square as my straight edge to make the cuts from the front side of the siding. This way I don’t have pencil marks I have to remove later. Attach that upper piece of siding to the building.
